One of the most successful and influential writers of the 20th century would have to be Dylan Thomas. Dylan Thomas was well known for his philosophical poetry, critical writings, and essays. He lived a very basic childhood and developed in to a great writer. Dylan Thomas went through a lot of hard times in order to become the kind of writer he was. He included many different styles of writing such as poetry, short stories and essays, poetry and prose collections, letters and notebooks, film scripts, he also added some sound recordings for a few of his creations. In a lot of his work he would question the existence of the human race. He would also write in order to bring out things inside of them were yet undiscovered by him. His life, creations and ability were all questioned in a matter of speculation and controversy. His sudden drinking problem was enough to put a slow and sudden halt on his career. Dylan Thomas was born to a middle class family. His father's name was D.J. Thomas and his mother's name was Florence Williams. He was born on October 27, 1914, in Swansea, Wales. He was second child in his family, but he was also the only son. Dylan had a lot of issues while growing up. He was a very small, pretty boy in school and was bullied throughout grammar school. His father was an English teacher at the same school Dylan went to. His father had a great passion for literature and wanted his son, Dylan, to have the same passion as he did. Dylan was teased and picked on and then thought that being bad was cool so he rebelled after his encounters with being picked on and bullied.
