Information Technology in Organizational Development

             Employee attitudes toward computer technology change over time. As computer technology becomes increasingly more prevalent throughout society and throughout the educational process, appreciative and critical attitudes toward the technology have changed. Understanding these attitudes can help organizations develop appropriate strategies to improve organizational effectiveness. With the extensive adoption of information and communication technologies, organizations are changing in many areas such as research, communication, collaboration and work. This paper will describe organizational development and discuss the impact that technological advancements can help in achieving organizational goals in a more efficient manner.
             The term "organizational development"(OD) refers to the process of growth which improves the effectiveness of an organization by changing the way it is structured, by modifying the behavior of its employees, or by altering the technology that is used to get the work done.. The process is carefully planned and implemented to benefit the organization, its employees, and its stakeholders. The organization may be an entire company, public agency, non-profit organization, volunteer group - or a smaller part of a larger organization. The change process supports the improvement of the organization or group as a whole. The client and consultant work together to gather data, define issues and determine a suitable course of action. The organization is assessed to create an understanding of the current situation and to identify opportunities for change that will meet business objectives. The way in which people communicate and work together are addressed concurrently with technical or procedural issues that need resolution.
