Teilhard's scientific and religious beliefs are strongly interrelated. The majority of his writing is extremely controversial. However, for the most part, Teilhard's views on Christ as the Omega are emotionally gratifying. Nevertheless, my views and beliefs differ from his on several issues. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty (Revelation 1:8). It is understood by most that Alpha is the beginning and Omega is the end. However, I was never taught or translated the word Omega as meaning God (Imperato, 11).
According to Teilhard, the role of Christ as the Omega is drawing human energy, commitment, and love toward a more unified social reality (Imperato, 12). However, in his letter to the Ephesians, Paul stated on three occasions that God's eternal plan is for His people to be to the praise of His Glory (Ephesians 1:6 12, 14). I accept this as the truth. Yes, we are to love and praise God with all our hearts and we are definitely committed to Him for all that he has done for us. The Bible can only be fully understood in the context of the original scriptures; and the message of the Bible is the message of Christ. If we look at what Teilhard is actually saying, we can translate his words to mean many different things. Although, we are living in a different century and in the age of scientific advancement, the Bible fully addresses our ultimate need for salvation. Our faith should not be focused on scientific or up-dated human knowledge. Teilhard's Christian dimension where he makes Christ as the meeting point of science and revelation, of the natural and supernatural of the human divine in one and the same person, is something to be reckoned with.
