Terry was a curly haired young boy who was born in Winnipeg Manitoba on July 28, 1958. He was raised in Port Coquitllam, B. C. His parents names were Rolly and Betty Fox. His mom was 42 years old and his dad was age 44. His dad worked as a Canadian National Railway as a switch man. His family was very close. He had two brothers Fred, Darrel, and a sister Judith.
             Terry went to university in Port Coquitlam B.C. His first year he became one of the two athletes to receive the schools highest athletic awards. At the end of his first year of university, there was a pain in his knee. He woke up one day and couldn't walk.
             A week later Terry found out that his pain in his knee was not just an ache he had a tumor, that turned out to be cancer. His leg was taken off six inches above the knee, and his odds were fifty to seventy percent recovery.
             Terry wanted to raise money for cancer so he started out to run a marathon, which he called Marathon of Hope. It took him two-thirds of the way across Canada. The run was a three-thousand mile run.
             Terry trained for the run for fifteen months, averaging 23 miles a day. He began his run in April in St. John's Newfoundland, his brother went on the run with him. Terry wanted his brother with him for support. Through the run Terry suffered from blisters, and cysts, but kept going on. Everyone couldn't understand why he was putting himself through pain, aches, and blisters, but he loved to run and wouldn't give up. He would run through the wind, rain and blazing sun, also through the darkness of the early morning and the glare of the summer afternoon.
             Terry was doing what he wanted to do, to raise money for all the people who had cancer like himself. His pain didn't matter to him, he was making his dream come true.
