On December 8, 1943 in a town by the name of Melbourne, FL a young man
named James Douglas Morrison was born. Jim as most people called him was one of three
children with him being the oldest. During Jim's years in school he always aimed to be the
center of attention this often got Jim in trouble. Some people believe he craved this attention
because he never really got much from his father. Jim's dad was an officer in the U.S. Navy and
was often away for long periods of time. Jim never really liked to talk of his parent he would
often tell people that his parents had died to avoid the subject.
In the summer of 1965 Jim got together with a friend named Ray Manzerek and
formed a music group. Jim named the group The Doors after a William Blake quote which read
"If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it really is,
infinite." The Doors started out playing small clubs on Sunset Strip like the Whiskey-A-Go-Go.
The Doors were quickly picked up by Electra Records due to Jim's outrageous performing style,
and his hard-hitting, highly amplified sound. Jim's outrageous behavior got out of control one
night at a concert in Miami. Jim had gotten drunk before the concert and in a drunken rage
started faking masturbation after the concert some people said Jim had exposed himself when
others said it was all an act. The following week a warrant was put out for Jim Morrison's arrest.
