Bill Clinton is an illustrious hero in my mind. He has been a great leader since he
was Governor of Arkansas from 1979-1980 and 1983-1992. John F. Kennedy and Martin
Luther King Jr. influenced Clinton in his life. During his presidency he was been a loyal,
strong-willed leader who isn't scared to do anything for his country. Clinton was the third
youngest president, which is also an amazing achievement.
During young Bill's life his father was killed before he was born. A few years later
his mom was remarried. His stepfather was an alcoholic and sometimes verbally and
physically abused his wife. Bill stood up to him more than once. Later he said that his
troubled family life made him skilled at solving disagreements and avoiding conflicts,
After Clinton received his law degree in 1973 he returned to Arkansas to get into
politics. In his first race for the U.S. House of Representatives he was narrowly defeated.
In 1976 he decided to run for Attorney General. During his term he opposed the building
of a few coal burning power plants and wanted them to have more efficient and
conservative plants built showing how he was a leader and cared about the environment.
After his term he ran for Governor and won his race. During his first term as Governor he
wasn't very popular because he failed to attract industries to the state. When he became
Governor again in 1983 he worked for better education and improving the Arkansas
public school system. Helping with education makes him a hero to many people getting
them what they need to go on to college and get a degree.
In 1993 Clinton was elected President of the United States. He ran against Ross
Perot and George Bush defeating them both. While President he appointed more women
and minority leaders to his Cabinet than any President had done before. This shows how
