Who knew one baseball game can shape a person entire focus on their dreams and aspirations? I don't think many people realize that one simple event such as baseball game can have such an impact on a person's life. I remember my first baseball game; my dad took me to it when I was 7 or 8. The popcorn, the crackerjacks, even the men's public restrooms were all smells that keep me connected to that event. I wasn't that excited being that I was a die hard Yankee fan and we were at a Mets game. But nevertheless I was happy to be at a sports event.
We arrived early so we can get snacks and not have to wait in the long lines. As my dad was getting the snacks I listened to numerous arguments about which team was going to win between various fans. Some of the arguments became so intense that people had to be psychically separated from one another. It was amazing to see how involved people could get into a sport smiplily because it was something they believed in.
We finally took out seats and we began to discuss nothing in particular, just life in general. Somehow careers wondered into the conversation. He asks me what I wished to become when I became of age to make that decision. I explained to him that I had never given much thought. He said that it will take time but one day it will come to me and no matter what it is he will support me one hundred percent. At that moment those words meant a lot although I didn't quite understand then.
An announcer came out which was a signal that game was about to began. Something was going on that I had never seen before as I watched the games at home. I had always missed the part where everyone paid tribute to this country that we live in by standing to our feet and listening to our national anthem.
