Sandra Schmirler

is where Sandra got her nick name Schmirler the curler and also where she met her first husband Del Peterson. Unfortunately Del and Sandra's marriage quickly came to an end when they didn't support one another. He was interested in Volley ball and she devoted her life to curling. Many curlers will devote their life to the sport. It is a sport that one can play for many years.
             When it came to the 1990-1991 curling season Sandra and Jan decided to form their own team with Sandra as skip and Jan as third. Trying to find players for a team isn't an easy task. Sandra and Jan spent many hours trying to find the right players to mesh together to make a great team. It is very important for members of a curling team to feel comfortable with one another. Finally the decision was made and they were going with Joan Inglis as second and Marcia Gudereit as lead. This foursome clicked right away. The ladies won the provincials for Saskatchewan and proceeded to the Scott Tournament of Hearts where they came fourth. The girls regrettably didn't win the provincial title the next year and were very upset. It is discouraging to any athlete when you lose the provincial title.
             Sandra's upset was eased a little when she received a promotion to be the supervisor of the newly opened South East Leisure Center.
