The two movies that were chosen for review and comparison were Man Hunter and Red Dragon. These two movies were the same story line and based off each other, Man Hunter, being the first of the two.
Overall these two movies are far from being the same. One of the biggest differences is the how the story flows. In the beginning Man Hunter, the story starts off without saying anything about how the FBI agent knows Hannibal. As the story progresses we find out that he has a deep hatred for Hannibal but uses him for ideas in his knew case. This is very different as compared to the newer Red Dragon. In the Red Dragon we find out right from the beginning how it was that Jack Graham, the retired FBI agent, meets Hannibal. This of course was a vicious attack on Jack Graham. What the director does in Red Dragon is gives us an idea for why Jack Graham is set out to get this next killer. We can feel his passion for the murdered and can feel his deep sense of attraction for the murderer. We are lead in to the life of the retired FBI agent; we can look through his eyes and see out into the world of what surrounds him.
Another difference that was noted throughout the movie is the character's them selves. We find that in Man Hunter the depth of both the retired FBI agent and deranged Francis Dolarhyde, who is the villain in both movies. It was our conclusion that the younger FBI agent wasn't able to portray a more aged and weary officer that they try to make him out to be. Also, we found that the villain in Red Dragon isn't as believable as in Man Hunter. We see the old villain as a big muscular man with an intimidating physique. This brings the viewer closer to the man giving the viewer a feeling of being scared when just thinking about the man. In Red Dragon the villain is a man that doesn't have as great of a look but you do get to look farther into the man himself. The director lets you s
