I. Thesis: Crimes and guns seen to go hand in hand with one another, but are these two really associated? Do guns necessarily lead to crime, and if so do laws passing restrictions on firearms ownership and use stop the crimes or protect the citizens? Let's take a look back in the past to see some of the causes of gun control laws.
II. Cause: In the early 1990's the number of people killed or wounded by firearms soared.
A. 1998 there were a total of 30,708 deaths from guns
B. Accidental shooting deaths are most commonly associated to when a child finds a hand gun in their home.

III. Effects: the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act.

B: does not apply to the many guns that are bought illegally on the black market

a: due to the fact that criminals do not purchase the guns they use for the crimes legally.
