The Book I read was Death Be Not Proud by John Gunther and here is the book cover.
"Life is short- so waste not a minute." & "Live while you're living then die and be done with-never refuse challenge-never give up trying etc.": I chose these two quotes because Johnny in the book never wasted a single minute and never refused a challenge before he had the tumor and after he had the tumor. He resembled these two quotes so much.
"Death always brings one sudden face to face with life. Nothing, not even the birth of one's child, brings one so close to life as his death." I chose this quote because Francis the mother of Johnny said this and knows that this is what you really feel when lose a child.
"Courage comes from a reserve of mind more powerful than outside circumstances" It resembles Johnny a lot because he did not his tumor stop him from doing things that he wanted to do. He wanted to labs and everything else you could think of dealing with science while he had this tumor.
In Memoriam JOHN GUNTHER JUNNIOR 1929-1947
Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so:
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death; not yet canst thou kill me.
From Rest and Sleep, which but thy picture be,
Much Pleasure, then from thee much more must flow;
And soonst our best men with thee do go-
Rest of their bones and souls' deivery!
Thou'rt slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war and sickness dwell;
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke. Why swell'st thou then?
One short sleep past, we make eternally,
And Death shall be no more: Death, thou shalt die!
