Educational resilience is particularly an offspring of the broader
idea of resilience. This sort of resilience has many faces, and has many
intricacies to it, which helps a person attain success in spite of
difficult circumstances or when there is no proper result. In spite of it
being a new segment of analytical study, the base for research which
portrays resilience is to a reasonable extent adequately molded.
This particular segment of study has thrown light into the fact that
children are at adversity which has its foundation on the existence of many
aspects which have been proved to be in association with difficult
prevalent state of affairs (lack of basic amenities, minority status and
dependence to drugs), and there was also a close examination of children
who have come out with flying colors in spite of the difficult
circumstances. After making a study of the populations that are at high
risk, the analysis has helped identified aspects which curb the outcomes of
being prone to hazards individually or that which may arise from the
environment and thus helping the children who are at high risk from
overcoming the difficulties in spite of a sense of defeatism arising from a
situation. There are environmental, physical aspects, and aspects of
apprehension and in a broader sense stamped as relating to the person and
relating to the environment. (Garmezy, 1991, 423).
A general awareness of aspects that are closely in relation with
resilience has given a foundation for study of educational resilience more
based on theory and that which is experimental. There is a particular
definition to the educational resilience which says that at its peak it
bears a close semblance to the success in education overcoming odds that
cause a high sense of being pron...
