Human personality develops according to the situation and environment a
person is in. personality can undergo major changes in a person's life. An
important aspect of human personality is that of love. Many psychologists
have given theories to explain the concept of love, and what are the
consequences of being loved and the deficiency of love.
Love is a warm and comfortable closeness, it understands and support
sometimes unexpressed, but always felt. Love is a bond that grows stronger
despite differences, distance, and the changes of time.
Theories of love
The love or belongingness needs Gratification is a matter of degree rather
than an either-or accomplishment. But once a need has been significantly
satisfied over a long period of time, it becomes functionally absent. The
action switches to the next highest level, in this case, love. For Maslow,
giving love is seeking to fill a void by understanding and accepting
selected others. Receiving love is a way of staving off the pangs of
Carl Rogers believes that The granting of love and approval only when
behaving in accordance with parent's wishes, or when parents withdraw love
if the child misbehaves. This leads to Conditions of Worth that is similar
to the superego. The individual believes that he/she is worthy of affection
only when expressing desirable behaviors.
Love and motivation always perform together, when a person is motivated to
perform some act or if motivated for doing some good performance a person
feels satisfied, when the feeling of satisfaction arises a person
automatically also feels loved. In the same way if a person is deprived of
motivation he is eventually also deprived of love. By all the theories of
psychology, we can see that motivation and love have been placed together.
