Introduction to the two Philosophers
The two great philosophers that were part of our history and make
their mark in the philosophical thinking in terms of art, understanding of
philosophical thinking and music are Dante Alighieri and Karl Marx. The
former was one of the greatest Italian poets of his time as well as a
significant writer of European literature. Dante is renowned for his famous
piece of poetry titled Commedia'. On the other hand, Karl Marx is from the
modern period of philosophical thinking and has interests in philosophy and
critical thinking, hailing from the humanities. This paper discusses the
similarities and differences between Alighieri and Marx as well as
establishes their representation of art and philosophy in their respective
Dante Alighieri - The Philosopher from Renaissance Period
Dante Alighieri or more commonly known as "Dante," is more often than
not regarded as the finest poet of the Middle Ages. Apart from this, he was
also renowned for being a philosopher as well as a political thinker. He
used to write the major part of his poetry in the Italian colloquial rather
than in Latin. This he did due to the reason that would effect the whole
Dante Alighieri's work in Italian vernacular language was Divina
Commedia, Vita Nuova, The Convivio, Rime, Il Fiore and Detto d' Amore.
Apart from this, he also wrote in Latin language, the works of which are De
Vulgari Eloquentia, The Monarchia, The Epistles, The Eclogues and Quaestio
de aqua et de terra. His forte remained in the areas of poetry and
philosophical re-mapping in the light of his art, which is in giving vent
to his feelings through the medium of writing poems and the like.
