Leadership styles need to change as an organization moves through its life cycle. New organizations need conceptual leaders who are creative and flexible. As organizations mature, they need analytic leaders and who can focus on productivity through delegation. Behavioral leaders are needed in mature organizations, and as organizations adapt to changing environments, there is a need again for conceptual leaders who can facilitate change (Boulgarides & Cohen, 2001).

Global companies must be aware of the various legal environments; a unified legal framework does not exist. These companies also face the challenge of currency fluctuations; different countries with different currencies can significantly affect a company's financial performance. Companies must also consider cultural diversity and expectations of managers and employees in different parts of the world (Manzoni, 2005).
3. Locus of Control and power Response
An internal locus of control means that the individual relies less on outside validation than on internal validation. This has been shown to be positively correlated with favorable outcomes on the job, such as greater motivation. Those who have an external locus of control require much greater feedback from supervisors and may lose motivation if external rewards are not forthcoming (Ng, Sorensen & Eby, 2006).
