Abortion: Pro Life, Pro Choice

             There are numerous controversial topics and issues that abound in the modern world. Some of these test the limits of our morals and ethics that it is sometimes difficult to determine what is black or white as a result of varying shades of gray. Abortion is one topic that has seen the battle lines drawn between the pro-choice and the pro-life. It is difficult to fathom who's who is correct because each side have valid points that support their assertions. In the ensuing debate between the two, violent acts have often been committed only to prove the point of the proponents of each belief.
             The basic premise of the pro-lifers is that life is precious and it is a gift from a supernatural being that controls the lives of all living and non-living things. For those with religious convictions, this supernatural being is known as God and in one of the teachings, "Thou shalt not kill" is an absolute command for those who believe in the faith. For the firm believer, this is an absolute and clear direction of not hurting a human being especially one that is still in the womb of a mother. Call it baby or a fetus, the growing life inside is still and will always be for the pro-lifers a human being deserving protection by all means. Never mind if the pregnancy is caused by incest or rape, or there is already an abnormality in the growing fetus that continuing the pregnancy will born an debilitated child needing close care the rest of his life. Never mind too that continuing the pregnancy will cause death to either the child or the mother because obeying the "thou shalt not kill" commandment is of greater importance and whatever happens to either unborn child or mother is God's will.
             For the pro-choice, it boils down to the woman making a decision on what should, will and must go on with her body. It will not be dictated by religious groups or the society but rather with her decision based on informed consent. If she...
