The Bullying Epidemic

             Is bullying morally wrong? Children need to be informed about the impact it can have on the lives of everyone involved. Some parents have lost their children to suicide due to "bullying" or "Cyber Bullying", while siblings suffer the loss of losing a brother or sister. The psychological and emotional damage caused by such an action can be very detrimental.
             I chose this topic base on my concerns of having a 12 year old son in middle school. From my own observation I have witnessed children harassing other children. I spoke to my son about these issues, my concerns of kids bullying other kids and the effect it has on the child being bullied. I asked him 2 questions "Have you ever felt threatened? Have you ever been bullied"? He responded "Kids in my school get bullied everyday". It is a normal thing to us". Immediately I went to the internet and pulled up the STOP BULLYING website to show my son the effect bullying has on some children. His facial expression went from searching to sadness as we watched a few video clips of family, friends and classmates speaking in remembrance of their loved ones who committed suicide from the effects of being bullied.
             Bullying has become a national epidemic throughout elementary schools, middle schools and high schools in America. It has become a major concern for parents, teacher, principals, school administrators, celebrities and kids. Bullying is a repetitious behavior including making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally and or excluding someone from a group on purpose. Some children who are being bullied suffered from psychological damages. They lose interest to perform academically or begin to disassociate themselves from others do to humiliation or embarrassment.
