Last Sunday afternoon, February 24, my friend and I went to the Music at the Merc in Old Town Temecula community theatre and saw Paul Kenyon's performance. He is a solo pianist and played some beautiful classical pieces. He plays both solo piano and is a collaborative artist. Paul Kenyon has been acclaimed for his creative programming and effective communication. He appears on many concert series in different states and cities. Ha has recorded 3 CD of solo piano music with repertoire ranging from Haydn to Villa-Lobos. He also performs as pianist for the Catalina Trio and appears frequently as collaborative artist in chamber music and contemporary music ensembles.
Paul Kenyon is from and born in upstate New York, Paul Kenyon earned the Doctor of Musical Arts in piano performance from Michigan State University where he studied piano with Deborah Moriarty and Ralph Votapek. Dr. Kenyon also holds degree from Mansfield University and Bowling Green State University, with additional studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. For six summers, Dr. Kenyon has performed at the Colby Piano Institute in Waterville, Maine, where he coached with the internationally renowned pianist, Anthony di Bonaventura.
Paul Kenyon is a member of the music faculty at Point Loma Nazarene University where he has taught piano and music theory since 1991, and served as chair of the music department from 1998 until 2012. Dr. Kenyon and his wife, Brenda, serve as directors of music ministries at Reformation Lutheran Church in El Cajon, California. Before moving to San Diego, Dr. Kenyon taught piano at Western Michigan University and Wright State University.
