Mercedes Benz, BMW, Porsche, Volkswagen and Audi; when we think of these cars, we tend to think about Germany. Though it is known for it's engineering and being one of the leading motor sports countries in the entire world, Germany has much more to offer. In the past Germany was a country that faced warfare, separation and rule under different people, but today Germany deals with none of these issues.
Located in central country Europe, Germany is lies south of Denmark and between Poland and Netherlands. The two bodies of water that Germany borders are the Baltic Sea and North Sea, which in turn produce 2, 389 kilometers of coastline for the country. The Germany that we know today did not come to be overnight. The events that account for the independence of Germany goes back much further into the past. In December of 800, Charlemagne found the Carolingian Empire, which in turn was divided in 843. The eastern portion of the division, which became known as the medieval empire, existed in many forms and was known as the Holy Roman Empire. In 1448 it became officially known as the Holy Roman Empire of The German Nations, since it's territory was reduced.
Under the Reign of the Ottonian emperors, several tribes were brought together and the Holy Roman Emperor was crowned. When the Salian emperors came into power, the Empire took hold of Northern Italy and Burgundy. The Hohenstaufen emperors, allowed for the influence of the Empire to be spread further south and eastward. The empire flourished and became prosperous. In 1315 the Great Famine followed by the Black Death in1348 to 1350 was the cause of the abrupt drop in number of people. In 1517, the Protestant revolution led way and the Lutheran Church was becoming the primary religion to many of the German areas after the year 1530.
