The Breakfast club is a story of five teenagers who were sentenced to Saturday detention in school. Each of them having their own identity knew nothing about each other before this day. They all came from different social economical groups. We have the jock, wrestling star Andrew Clark, Claire Standish the most popular girl in school, Brian Johnson the brains, John Bender the catalyst of the group with his rebellious nature, and last but not least Allison Reynolds the eccentric but yet the basket case of the group. Despite the fact that they all go to the same school, few of them seem to have anything in common, with the exception of Andrew and Claire, who both reign in the "popular" crowd. The Breakfast Club can fall into the subject of Social Psychology due to the diversity of their backgrounds and their social status in school.
These teenagers came in to school that Saturday not knowing what to expect when they got there. The teacher in charge of them gave them instruction on the essay they need to write while in detention. The essay they had to write was a descriptive essay about themselves. They began to realize that they had more in common than the thought. None of them communicates well with their parents, all are under tremendous pressure from their peers, and they all dread the future, they fear they might grow up to become like their parents. As the day progresses they begin to bond a little through some Marijuana smoking. They begin to share their pain and despair of their everyday life. Allison the nymphomaniac liar, she lives in a fantasy life and doesn't know what the truth or a lie is. She built this world because her parents ignored her. Brain actually confessed that he thought of committing suicide everyday and that's how he got in trouble by bringing a gun to school. He felt that getting a poor grade in shop was disappointing his parents. He also wanted to just be accepted as a person
