Cannibalism: Just Another Taboo?

             When faced with certain circumstances would you do the unthinkable?
             Imagine you are stranded somewhere with no chance of survival, unless you
             resort to cutting up your companion and eating his or her body for
             food...would you do it? What if you needed the medical assistance of dried
             body tissue, powdered bone, or even human blood, would you consume any of
             these substances to stay alive? Maybe you are part of a community where it
             is socially acceptable, or even a daily ritual where everyone consumes
             human flesh either for religious beliefs or the survival of your own
             people, what would you do? Or maybe even, you had a serious mental disorder
             where you are driven to eat human meat for either sadistic pleasure or
             psycho pathological reasons. Many people face these issues and are forced
             to resort to cannibalism, but are they just some sick freaks that commit
             completely socially unacceptable crimes, or do the situations they are put
             There are many cases of people being lost, stranded, or stuck in the
             middle of what seems to be nowhere. Airplane crashes are one of the
             main reasons for these traumatic accidents. "In 2008, the Air Crash Record
             Office (ACRO) reported 876 deaths due to airplane accidents and 147
             separate airplane crashes. The worst year for airplane crash deaths was
             1972, when 3,214 people died in plane crashes."(Lewis & Tompkins) If
             someone were to be in a plane crash and survive the initial crash, they
             wouldn't last long without food and water. In the most famous
             example is the Uruguayan rugby team that was on their way to Chile for a
             rugby championship, but crashed in the middle of the Andes (Alive, by Piers
             Paul Reads). There was minimal food supply that they had to ration, but
             even doing that, the food didn't last and they rapidly became weaker and
             weaker. Hope for rescue was desperately needed, but many didn't want to
