The Chinese Secret to Longevity

             Forty years ago in China, it was not uncommon for a man to die at sixty, having lived a full life. However, now we consider a lifespan of sixty years to be short. According to the 2010 Sixth National Population Census, the Chinese average life expectancy increased to 74.83 years (pars. 3-1). It is not unusual for people to live into their eighties and nineties, and some even reach one hundred. What's more, people are living long, healthy lives and are active well into their "golden years." There are some causes why people can live longer, especially when the societal and economic stabilization, the advancement of medical condition and the better eating conditions are taken into account.
             First of all, societal and economic stabilization give people a good environment in which to live. Now China is into the long phase of a peaceful existence. After the war with Vietnam in the 1980's, China has not been involved in any war. So today's ideal stabilization provides people the chance to live without sadness and fear. The Chinese political situation is stable, and policies are coherent and effective. These give some opportunities to development economy. Since the policy of reform and opening-up began in 1979, China's economy has been developed rapidly and people's material life has also been more and more abundant.
             Secondly, the advancement of medical condition is also a very indispensable factor. In these years, medical condition has made remarkable progress. According the 2012 July National Medical Service Situation Report, the number of medical institutions increased to 96.1 hundred thousand'than in 1965 increased 91.9 hundred thousand (pars. 6-1). Then, western medicine has achieved great progress in China and is combined effectively with Chinese medicine.
