Parenting is promoting and supporting the health, education and helping a child grow. Parents educate their children based on their life time experience but still most have failed in raising their kids. Controlling, mandating and rigid parents tend to live their lives through their kids and in most cases this are people that did not accomplish anything great in their youth years and the thought that did if they just had someone to push them they would have had succeeded in life. The case of the short story of "The Glass Menagerie", Tennessee Williams illustrates a mother of two, who is so obsessed with her youth years that tries to re-live her daughter's life, this emphasis how she what she would of done things differently. Amanda Wingfield has failed life and in her marriage, but refuses to admit it, instead she lives Laura's life to show that she was not a failure. Although she longs for Laura to get a husband she acts like she is the bride to be, leaving Laura feeling uncomfortable and feeling less attractive.
While Amanda's job a parent was to provide for her children and set an example she spent most of her time fantasying, not giving her children the support and the attention they sought. Was not a role model for tom nor for Laura, since she had never accomplished anything of her own but still she refused to accept her failure. How did she expect her kids to be like her if she was a failure, still her pride is too wide, or her imaginations have made her believe that she is a role model, and that she was better than what her children are now. She constantly brags of the same events that occurred during her youth years to illustrate how popular she was. Her favorite event is the Sunday that she had seventeen callers.
