For many years, researchers have been studying the brain development of humans as young as a fetus, trying to find any signs in development that are linked to a person's sexual orientation. Homosexuality is the sexual orientation toward people of the same sex which is the opposite of heterosexuality, which is being attracted to the opposite sex.
             Usually, female homosexuals are known as lesbians, but the term gay has been used for both men and women for many years. The earliest acts of homosexuality are found in ancient Pagan religious practices. For years people all over the world has been attempting to ascertain whether or not homosexuality is a resuly of nature, nurture or a combination of both.
             As a child, I grew up with only one parent, my mom, who was both a mother and father to me. I've known throughout my life that my mother is gay. When my mother was younger she grew up in a normal, traditional family home. She had one mother, one father and two siblings. Her parents were married, she got along great with her siblings'and she was raised to be interested in men. But my mother wasn't the average "girly girl". Even though she wore makeup and dresses to school, she found a thrill in hanging out with and being one of the guys. After high school, my mother never wanted to date guys but did so only because that is what she was raised to do. When my mother was 19 she met my dad and they became a couple. It seemed as if they were living the life every couple wanted to have.
             Everything was going great for some time except for one problem - my mother's need for dominance.
