It was dark and quiet outside. Not a single star was in the sky, nor a single sound heard. I was alone and the thought of being alone, and the absence of Jack, made my heart race faster.
Thoughts of what could happen to Jack started to play in my mind, 'Could he be attacked by dogs?' 'What could happen to him?' 'Has he fallen again and injured himself?'
I stood where I last saw him, at the top of the hill. I was afraid to move because I had hopes of him coming back up the high hill. I was hoping that Jack and I would get home safe, though as the night sky got darker, my fear grew with each breath I took.
Eventually, I had no choice but to go down the long hill. I went carefully so I wouldn't fall. I started walking and the further I walked, the closer I got to what appeared to be bushes and the edge of the forest. I started to hear wild animal sounds and strange movements in the trees. The deeper I got into the forest, the colder it was, and the strong wind made the trees sway from side to side, which frightened me even more.
The more I walked, the closer I was getting to the animal noises. I started to yell out 'JACK! JACK! Where are you? Are you OK?' and then a fast movement passed me. It was incredibly fast - so fast that I couldn't see what it was - but I knew it wasn't human. My heart pounded faster and I froze in place. I was terrified. I couldn't feel my feet. I dropped down on the forest floor and as I was crawling into a ball, I saw someone coming towards me. Could it be Jack?
'JACK! Can you hear me?' I yelled out. Nobody answered me. Silence.
I got up, and started running. I was loosing breath and I was thirsty, but I kept running, hoping that I could find Jack. The more I ran and the deeper into the woods I went, the darker it got. I heard more noises and they were terrifying.
