The Nazi party ruled Germany for twelve years. During their rule they had a central belief that was that in society there are certain people that are dangerous and need to be eliminated so that German society could flourish and survive. The Nazis believed that they were racially superior. They targeted many groups during the Holocaust era. Some groups they targeted were Gypsies, Homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Slavic people, but mostly the Jews were targeted. Holocaust is a word of Greek origin that means the sacrifice by fire. At the beginning of World War ll, many of these groups were captured and forced to live in concentration camps. They were being killed in gas chambers, poisoned, or just shot in the concentration camps. They also died from diseases, starvation, and overcrowding. The German used their military superiority to crush and terrorize the groups. These groups could do nothing to stop the killing of their own people because no matter what they did they could not change the Nazi's minds. Although many people believe the United States helped stop Adolf Hitler because he was a tyrant, there were other reasons like death camps, and why Jews were being killed that stopped Hitler.
Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889 in Braunau am Inn, Austria. His father died when he was fourteen, and his mother when he was eighteen. He lived in Vienna for four years and during that time he tried twice to enter the Academy for Art in Vienna, but was rejected both times. In 1913 Hitler moved to Germany and enlisted in the German Army. He served for four years and was wounded several times. Toward the end of the World War l he served as an intelligence agent for military authorities. During this time he attended a meeting held by the Tiny German Workers party.
