In the tragic play 'Macbeth' by William Shakespeare, is about an eager man called Macbeth who wants to become the king of Scotland. He decides to kill anyone who stands between him and the crown. In the play there are allot of important scenes but one which is very important is Act IV Scene I. This is were he sees the four apparitions.
Before Act IV Scene I, Macbeth had triumphed over the Origins and the Scottish. On the way back he spots three witches, who predict that he'll be the king of Scotland. After arriving at his castle he meets his wife. Macbeth's conscience troubles him so he decides to tell his wife, who persuades him to murder King Duncan. After murdering King Duncan and Banquo, Macbeth becomes the king of Scotland, but at a price. His mind gets corrupted with evil and his wife goes insane. He then decides to see the three witches again because he's in fear of his crown and title and wants to know if he is still going to be reigning as king. The three witches' show him four apparitions that he'll never forget.
The first apparition tells him, "Macbeth! Beware Macduff, beware the Thane of Fife." At this he's scared and wants to know more, especially why he must fear Macduff. The second apparition appears and tells him, "Be bloody, bold and resolute; laugh to scorn the power of man, for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth." This puts Macbeth at ease as he no longer fears Macduff, because at this stage he does not know that Macduff was born caesarean.
The third apparition says to Macbeth, "Macbeth shall never vanquish'd be until
Great Birnam wood to high Dunsinane hill shall come against him." Once more Macbeth is given a false sense of security because in his mind he doesn't believe that trees can be uprooted and climb hill Dunsinane.
