Effects of the Taliban

             What exactly are the Taliban? The Taliban are religious students educated in the koranic schools of Pakistan. They follow the tenets of Deobandism, take over countries at their own leisure. The Taliban are known for coming to a country, and violently taking control of everything. They enforce strict, ridiculous laws, and beat or even kill anyone who disobeys. The Taliban makes life miserable to anyone living under their power. For example, in the book My Forbidden Face, there was a situation where three young girls, around 15 to 16 years old, came to Latifa's mother's doctor's office. The girls had each been raped by fifteen different men, and they were beaten as well. The Taliban took no control over this. That just goes to show how careless they were to the women. You would think they could at least protect the young women whose lives were brutally effected during this drastic transformation. Did they try to stop it? Did the Taliban even care? No, they just went about their ways, ruining lives and scarring innocent hearts. Is it hard for the Taliban to gain control over a country? Absolutely not. They easily gained control by just basically coming to the country and killing or beating the current leaders. They replaced them with long- bearded men that looked mean, and rough. These men were mostly older, and they were very controlling, after all, that is their main purpose; right? To make this change official, the Taliban hung a white flag to where everyone could see it. This verified that they were in control now.
             So many lives, but so little time to free them. It's so disappointing to look at all the women in this country who have to follow these unreasonable rules. Some of the rules that apply to both men and women were the banning of animals, TV' s, vcr' s, video cassettes, music tapes, any weapons, (or items that could be used as a weapon ), and even simple housing suppl
