Personal Theory

             My personal theory of teaching and learning is simple yet practical. Students work harder for a teacher who they like and respect. Mutual respect is key when educating students. However, this course has enabled me to elaborate more on my beliefs. Including the roles of stakeholders, learning environment, and management of the classroom. Moreover, my personal teaching and learning theory has not changed, rather it has enhanced based on Woolfolk's Educational Psychology text and revenant research performed throughout this course. In addition to my original theory; I learned from this course that all children learn differently and how essential it is for educators to differentiate instruction based on students learning styles. I believe that students, parents, teachers, and administrators must play an effective role as stakeholders in a student's academic career.
             Students learn most effectively through a combination of progressivism and behaviorism teaching methods. Most students learn best by a mixture of auditory, visual, and hand-on teaching. Based on Woolfolk's Educational Psychology text it is imperative to incorporate each of these ways of learning into my teaching style. I will try to make sure that I teach how my students learn best. It will be my job to effectively teach them the things they need to know.
             I believe the main purpose of education is for students to have a life-long desire for learning. I hope that after I teach them, students will crave knowledge. I believe
             that education should not just be preparation for life, but rather, the very essence of life. I believe that learning should involve more problem-solving techniques than
             calculation. I definitely think the school should encourage cooperation not competition in the child's education.
