In my life, I have met many people and experienced many things. Since I have to pick one person or experience, I choose a person and that is my son Jason. He is my second child. He has turned my life around completely. Why has my son been such an impact on my life? Let me take you back, before he was conceived.
I was in the army living the life of a soldier. I ate, slept, and lived army. I had a lot of fun, maybe a little too much fun because I ended up pregnant for the first time in my life. I was distraught and was not ready to take care of a baby. On top of that, I had trouble with the father being a drunk and always getting himself into trouble, for example starting fights for just the fun of it and committing fraud.
One day I was told I was going to Korea and did not have and could not have the ability to turn the tour down. I had to have my mother take care of my son as I went to Korea. He was only five months old and was my mother's first grandson, so I let her take care of him for me. I was not attached to my first son; however, I did not like the fact that the army was separating me from him. You could say that during that time of my life I was selfish and thought the world evolved around me.
I did my job in Korea, but still had too much fun. While there, I met a man that I really fell in love with; he in so many ways was just like me. Before I knew it, I was pregnant again. Now, I had to make a life changing decision, do I abort my baby or do I give up my duty in Korea and to the army? I decided that the army was not going to separate me from my child again. I decided to have my baby and give up the army. I thought it was time for me to take responsibility and not put it on someone else.
