" Animal Farm" was written by George Orwell. The book is about the animals defeat humans and get freedom, but then the pigs take control over the farm. Squealer is the pig who helps Napoleon gains control successfully through using " basic fear", " rumors", " slogans", and so on.
Squealer uses " basic fear" to make the animals follow him. He said, " Surely none of you wishes to see Jones back?" (pg 80) Plus his awsome speaking-skills. Of course the animals believe him. He is really good at convecing. Also, he uses the dogs to make the animals afraid of them. So all the aniamls support them.
Squealer also uses " rumors" to hide his viciousness. He had, he said, been present during Boxer's last hours. (pg 124) He also told the animlals that Boxer had said, " Napoleon is always right". The ignorant animals all love Boxer. If Boxer says something, they would think it must be right. Squealer knows this, so he use Boxer to thick the poor animals by using rumors. This really helps him to gain control, isn't it?
Squealer uses " slogans", too. He teaches the sheep to say " Four legs good, two legs better!" ( pg 132) The reason is the pigs start to walk upon two legs, so that they can use whips. Squealer is a very smart pig. He knows that the sheep are to be taught. They don't think. They just do whatever are told. Squealer knows that when the sheep say " Four legs good, two legs better." The other animals will start to think that the sheep are right.
Now Squealer has gained control successly. All the animals support him, think he is right, and do what he tell them to do. No matter Squealer is good or bad, he is talented. That's why Squealer can take control over the farm, but not the kind Boxer or the mad hens or the sweet sheep!
