Using 1920's Slang: Short Story

             It was a cool, rainy night. Donna and Lurch, two hopeful romantics, were meeting for a drink at a popular speak-easy downtown. Rocko, a mutual friend of the two singles, set up the blind date. They met outside the entrance to the swanky saloon. Lurch's first impression of Donna is that she was just another dumb Dora, although she does have nice gams. So, he decided to give the date a chance. Little did they know, Vinny Testa, a renowned gangster, had some business at the bar that night. He had hired a torpedo named Tony to bump off Alex, the owner of the place, for gyping them out of some bootleg whiskey a few weeks back. The night was about to take a turn for the worst.
             After introducing themselves at the entrance, Lurch asked Donna, "Do you want to go inside?"
             Inside, the atmosphere was smokey and dim. Lurch ordered some highballs for himself and his date as they settled into some chairs against the wall to talk.
             Trouble was brewing on the other side of the bar. Vinny Testa and his gang were conspiring how to carry out their scheme without being caught. Tony, Vinny's right-hand man, came up with the machination.
             "Eh, Vinny what you need is a fall guy. How 'bout that guy, over there," Tony said pointing to Lurch. "He's just staring into space, kind of awkward looking." The men grunted in agreement. Vinny nodded; the plan would commence in fifteen minutes.
             Back in the corner, Lurch, attempting to start a conversation asked, "So Donna, do you like baseball?"
             "Oh yes! I get so excited when one of the men hits a touchdown!" she retorted.
             Vinny, the big cheese in operation, was surrounded by Sheba's on all sides and continued to neck them while reviewing the plan with the torpedo. Vinny silenced everyone by holding up his hand. He pulled on his ear and winked at Tony, a sign that the plan was about to be put into action.
