My personal moral philosophy is very clear to me. Since I could comprehend how this world works, I have understood that I should follow certain basic rules. I should not steal, murder, lie, or cheat. Following these basic and very simple rules defines people's lives and shapes their futures. My moral philosophy is predominantly based on my Catholic up bringing. I was born in Mexico where the population is mostly Catholic. It was not even questioned as to what the neighbor down the street or what friends and family beloved in.
Being born in Mexico to a Catholic family I have been baptized, completed my First Communion, Confirmed and next year I will go through a Catholic marriage. Other then being baptized I have taken classes and had to prepare for every step of my Catholic life. These classes include discussions and teachings of what morality is and how I can live a richer life by following simple ethical rules that apply to everyday decisions.
I moved to the United States when I was 18 years old and in the last 4 years, I have received a wealth of knowledge as to how the rest of the world works. I have had the opportunity to be exposed to different cultures, beliefs, and traditions. The world is very large and at the same time at the tips of your fingers. I have learned that what I might consider a fundamental moral belief might not be the same as the next person.
Education has also shaped and added to my moral belief structure. It seems like the more educated one is the more their moral foundation starts to erode. Science starts to play a major role in your moral beliefs. If your moral beliefs are based on religion then your world will come tumbling done if you do not have a certain amount of blind faith. However, if you do have this blind faith then you will live the richest most moral life you can possible have. At least in your eyes you will.
