Philosophy of Science

             When I was a young student I never thought of science as being significant enough to have a personal philosophy on the subject. However as a future teacher I have realized that it is a subject of great importance which needs to be contemplated. When I began to think about what science is, I realized that science is in our everyday lives and all around us.
             When trying to figure out what my personal philosophy is on science, I decided to conduct a personal test. From the time I woke up in the morning until the time I went to sleep at night I tried to see how my daily routines and activities were somehow related to science. My day began when my alarm clock went off and woke me up. Then I went into the bathroom and turned the light on, I realized that in order to use the alarm clock, the light and my hairdryer there had to be a source of electricity which all relate to science. As I left my house I noticed my neighbor watering her lawn. Her flowers had grown considerably in a matter of weeks. Everything in nature is related to science, these are things that we take for granted. It is important to appreciate the beauty around us the plants, the ocean, the sky, the stars and everything in the universe. At lunchtime I met a friend of mine who is a personal trainer, we began to talk about exercising and eating healthy. At t!
             hat moment, I understood that healthy eating, proper nutrition, exercise and how the body functions are all related to science.
             After noticing how science affected me personally in almost every aspect of my daily life, it became apparent why it's important to allow children to explore with science. As a student in grammar school we were told "this is why" and we had to memorize it. I have difficulty remembering what I have learned at that time.
