As a student of the University of Phoenix I have laid out a few personal goals for myself to achieve. I divided my goals into two categories, long-term goals and short-term goals. My short term goals are to develop essential skills such as research skills, written communication skills, personal management, critical thinking, getting a better understanding of the education system in the United States, which will help me in my long-term educational goals. My long term goals is to become successful in school, my career field, and personal life. I want to develop myself into a life-long learner. I would like to acquire personal and intellectual skills necessary for productive membership in society. Develop qualities that contribute to personal well-being and social and professional integrity.
             My short-term goals here at the University of Phoenix is to acquire learning skills, such as 1. Critical thinking. I want to be able to engage in independent and creative thinking and solve problems effectively. 2. Command of Language, communicate effectively-including reading, writing, listening, and speaking. 3. Quantitative literacy, get the ability to reason mathematically. My worst subject is math. I know I will be needing tutoring on this subject. 4. Information literacy, knowing how to use libraries, computer applications and emerging technologies. 5. Interpersonal communication, be able to relate to and work effectively with diverse groups of people. Another important goal of mine is to acquire discipline to learn and posses more knowledge on the following: 1. Visual and performing arts (art, music, dance, theater), 2. Literature (English, foreign language-based), 3. Civilization (cultural and historical perspectives), 4. Contemporary Global issues (peoples, cultures, institutions), 5. Third language or culture, 6. Mathematics, 7. Social and behavioral sciences, 8. Biological and physical sciences.
