Out of all the religions/philosophies existent in China the Chinese are influenced the most by the philosophies/religions of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. In addition to these popular religions in China there are two others Hinduism and legalism that some people say branched out from other religions. To what you may call the untrained eye, it may be difficult to distinguish between all the philosophies or religions. The rich religious history of this country alone has gave birth and help to produced some of the most wide spread religions.
Both Taoism and Confucianism were created in the early year of Chinese history between 600 BC and 400 BC.
Mostly based on the work of Dao De Jin, Taoism promotes the belief that a person will gain great power and strength if they behave in harmony with the "nature of universe". A person will be punished sooner or later by his own wrong doing if the acts conflict with the "nature of the universe". It was said with well mannered behavior and self restrain, a person can achieve inner strength as well as a long happy life.
Taoism and Buddhism are said to be the most popular religions in China. These religions may seem different but agree with most of the same beliefs. Confucianism on another note is the philosophy in China that rules over behaviors and actions. It focuses on the importance of a family and the society order. Children must respect and always listen to their parents. Essentially, younger obeys to the older, junior follows the senior, Servants serve the rulers. As modern day China evolves a sense of this religion seems to be embedded in society.
Buddhism was introduced into China from India. The reason for its acceptance is because it is essentially reinforcement of religions and philosophy of Taoism and Confucianism.
