Crimes of Women

             For years studies of women's deviance were limited to
             prostitution and other kinds of sexual deviance thought to be
             typical female offences. It soon became apparent that not all
             women offenders fit this stereotype and that women were involved
             in a wide variety of criminal activities. In addition to
             prostitution, drug offences and homicide are the most frequent

             American women met the high demand for prostitution.
             This happened around the 1880's through the 1920's for the Black
