Cost of life

             "911, what is your emergency?" "Oh my god! My house is on fire and my baby is trapped inside! Please help!" "Don't worry, help is on the way." A human life is priceless, and if destroyed, it can never be replaced. Death will always be a part of life, but it can be prevented, and lives are saved everyday by men and women who risk their own lives for others. These men and women are the workers of the fire service and the emergency medical response. Every day they risk their lives to save someone that they have never met before, and will probably never meet again. Minimal amounts of your taxes go to firefighter's and EMT's salaries, and they do their jobs at no cost to the general public. They don't give you a bill to be paid in order to save your life. To do a job like this, one would think that they would be paid huge amounts of money, but that is not the case. Firefighters and EMTs (emergency medical technicians) put their lives on the line and save lives every day for pay that isn't equal to the work that they do.
             Fire fighters willingly put themselves in danger for the safety and protection of life and property, and for this service the average firefighter is paid around $50,000 a year. Everyday these men and women respond to emergency calls to save lives and property. Although most firefighters would tell you that they didn't enter their line of work for the money, it still makes a big difference in life. Everything in this world revolves around money. A firefighter will always work just as hard, if not harder, than anyone else who makes the same salary, and they save lives daily. Firefighters make countless sacrifices to do their job, because a firefighter has countless duties to perform.
