In your vision of hell, there were more things that I agreed with than disagreed with that were included in my personal beliefs that I would like to address in this letter. One of the more important factors of this book was that the punishment more often than not fit the crime by the divine justice of god, which I believe, should occur also taught to us by religion. Some examples of this would be how those who were violent against neighbors glorified themselves in the blood of others were punished justly by having to spend the rest of their days in boiling blood of those they killed or the gluttons who squandered the abilities god have given them in favor of drink and food were punished by Cerebus by wallowing in their own filth. Another thing that I concurred with my morals was that even though Dante may have gone astray a little in his life or in his beliefs in the depths of hell those who care about him to receive salvation gave him a chance. I was taught to believe that even though humans in their own frailties will sin and may be given a chance at salvation given that they are willing to repent for their sins and serve in humility to the lord.
Out of all the characters in the book, my favorite character was Virgil for many reasons. He met Dante at the beginning of the book to offer him salvation from him walking too astray from the path from god with the help of those who cared about him. He led Dante through Minos and several other inhabitants of the underworld with the power and divine word of the lord and also using cunning and wit in knowing when to escape from certain denizens of the Lucifer's lair. When the tortured soul had escaped from the demon's in the depths of hell, Virgil knew it was best to leave them because he knew that they would be looking for a scapegoat and more likely someone to take their anger out on.
