Gilgamesh, ruler of Uruk, treated his people cruelly. However, as a result of Gilgamesh being 2/3 god and 1/3 man, his power was unmatched on Earth. The gods created a creature, Enkidu, to match Gilgamesh's strength and to counter his evil actions. When Enkidu came to Earth, he lived in the wild and was a part of nature, as well as a representation of the gods. Gilgamesh heard of Enkidu's existence and sent a harlot, Shamhat, to seduce Enkidu. After sleeping with Shamhat, Enkidu lost his connection with nature. All of the other animals shied away from Enkidu when he went to the water hole. Enkidu was no longer a part of nature, and no longer close to god. Sleeping with Shamhat eventually led Enkidu to his downfall and death. Although Enkidu's action led to his death, it was necessary in order for Gilgamesh to become a better ruler.
Similarly Eve's influence over Adam led to his downfall. Living in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were instructed by God not to eat an apple from a tree. However Eve bit the apple and convinced Adam to eat the apple also. Adam and Eve's actions led them (and thus human kind) to forever be born into sin. In effect Eve's actions caused things to be the way they are today. Although life would have been better for Adam, Eve, and mankind if Eve had never bit from the apple, her action caused the world to be the way that it is. In this way the story of Adam and Eve, and Gilgamesh parallel each other.
