Before the year ended I found myself in a reflective mood. Between family, work and shopping I found myself thinking about the years passed and what I could do to have a more successful career in my future ahead. I'd wondered whether I should go back to school to upgrade my skills, or perhaps even to consider a whole new career, which might require retraining. But thinking about going back to school created a lot of anxiety for me, since I have been working (and away from the classroom) for a number of years.
This goal for me embodies the attainment of personal growth, as it is something that was put aside for 10 years for not being ready at that moment to pursue or not mature enough to achieve it. As an advancement in my career, since the feeling of not getting ahead in my career is only controlled by me, for financial stability needed for a secure home basis and the best reason to go back to school is because it makes me feel better about myself as a person, and it gives my daughter a positive image of higher education by setting an example of determination.
I am aware of the challenge it portrays in my life, balancing family, work and studies but it is one I am willing to face as part of a new journey I am embarking on. After careful consideration regarding which college to resume my studies, I decided to attend the University of Phoenix, which makes it possible to obtain my degree without sacrificing my family or job by offering a program that allows me to finish my education in a convenient environment designed for working professionals.
