What if, something so terrible swept over the earth and wiped out all of the grownups? How far would you go to survive? Some might choose theft, while others worked to earn what they deserved. In the book 'The Girl Who Owned a City,' a ten-year-old girl named Lisa strived to survive in this kind of world. In it, she found friends to help her along the way, and foes that threatened her with life and death.
             The characters in this story were at times unrealistic. Take Lisa for example, she thinks of everything, like Glenbard, and the militia. But where does she get her energy to think? She never sleeps, and always works. Also, look at Craig and Jill. Jill also barely sleeps, and still she finds the energy to take care of little children all day (and all night) long.
             The plot was good, but it just didn't have things that would normally happen in real life. People didn't act like normal people would. For instance, the younger children stand guard in the middle of the night. They do a lot of militia training that regular children just wouldn't be able to do. The older age group (10 and up) always act like grown ups, not pre-teens. They make militias, defense systems, and armys. It's not the right way people should act.
             Even though some of the plot and characters were unrealistic, almost every event that I read had me sitting on the edge of my seat. It was really exciting. I especially liked it when Lisa found the warehouse, and Glenbard. They filled my head with thoughts of how they would survive with their new resources. When Chidester and Elm captured Glenbard I was worried. How would Lisa recapture the city? It was really fun to read at some parts.
             But some things that happened made me wonder why anyone would do that. It's unnatural. I felt this when Lisa told Craig that he shouldn't run a farm. It's common sense that they couldn't live off of the warehouse their whole lives! They would need fresh produce! If I were Lisa, I w...
